A wedding is a time of joy and happiness. For us our formal portraits tend to carry some of that spontaneity. We do what we can to make them memorable and fun for our clients while keeping the dress clean. We recently had a chance to shoot portraits after the wedding with Margaret and Fernando, this opened us up to all sorts of opportunities. It was great spending time with them in Palos Verdes at the Malaga Cove Library and down on the beach where we were able to capture some amazing images with their dog Bella. The greatest part about doing this session with them is we didn't need to worry so much about the cleanliness of the dress allowing us to capture images we normally wouldn't be able to.

Its one thing to capture the bride being helped with her dress and her veil its another thing to be the one putting it on her. Her wedding was a great time full of laughs, joys, and even tears. In the end it was not only great to celebrate her wedding with her, but to capture it for her. Her wedding in San Bernardino will be one we never forget.

Just before my 30th Birthday my then girlfriend and I headed down to Rosarito Mexico for a weekend at her Grandmother's. During that trip I met a man that would be one of the biggest influences in my life. Growing up people had talked to me about God, and unfortunately like many I rejected that message. While on the trip we were invited to a skateboarding competition, and we headed down to the event. When we got there the competition had ended, but I was introduced to the organizer. This was a meeting that would forever change my life.

Well at the time the organizer Eric was having trouble getting his Jeep started and I went over to see how I could help. We were able to get the Jeep started and then he invited us out to eat with some of the volunteers. We decided to go with them and while at dinner I witnessed the way Eric was and how those with him were as well. There was something different about them, they were so willing to give of themselves without wanting anything in return. While at dinner he invited us to church and while my brain was screaming NO WAY NO CHANCE I opened my mouth and the words “sure what time?" came pouring out. We went to church that Sunday and then headed back home to LA.

For the next several weeks I spent quite a bit of time around Eric in Rosarito working on the skate park the church was operating. For the first time I was shown and not told what it was to be a Christian. After several weeks going week in and week out to Rosarito to assist with the skatepark , I gave my life to the Lord and haven’t looked back. The Martins have now been back in the US for a while still serving as a missionary family still touching other lives.

Recently they let us know they were going to be in LA for their oldest daughter’s birthday and wanted to know if we would be available to do a family portrait session with them. We agreed to meet at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art near Hollywood. LACMA is not only a great place to spend a day but it’s also a unique place for family portraits. Eric and Regina have 3 amazing girls and have done an amazing job in raising them in the Lord. It was a blessing and privilege to be able to capture an afternoon in their lives, and to be able to give back to someone that gives soo much.

Thank you for following your heart and God’s calling on your life.

Chasing Your Dreams

As kids we dream big. We dream of being professional athletes, artists, musicians, actors, doctors, and cowboys. We dream of being famous, and of impacting the world. We never dream about working in a cubicle or being receptionists, and I don't think there are many of us who dream of being accountants.

As we grow older those dreams start to be molded, they take shape, and sometimes they are transformed into other dreams. They are shaped by circumstance, or even our inability to hit a fast ball.

However there are those who hold on to those dreams and chase them regardless of the cost, or the naysayers out there. Those who refuse to give up and hold strong to that desire or calling.

Karina is one of these dreamers. She was a child that loved to be center stage, making everyone laugh and enjoy themselves. As an adult she's still the loving girl that wants to continue to entertain and be front and center. She has taken that dream and shaped it into a career as a DJ on La Invasora 94.5 FM where she entertains and brings joy into people's lives on both sides of the border.

As her family we can not be prouder to see how she has grown from a young girl entertaining her family to a woman who is loved by her fans and has made a serious commitment to follow her dreams. As artists we can not help but to be inspired to continue chasing ours.

We are very excited to share Xindy and Logan's maternity portrait session that took place in Palos Verdes. This maternity sessions was very unique in style with a modern vintage flare including the baby's name "Royal Max." Over all Xindy was glowing and looking amazingly beautiful. By far, Xindy was one hot mama with high heels ! We also enjoyed watching both Xindy and Logan's love they had for one another and for the little one on the way. We even had the chance to pet some beautiful horses during the session.

On August 14th we were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of and document the matrimony of Emely and Stephen. This joyous occasion took place at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach. This was truly a paradise wedding in LA with the harbor and ships in the background and the love of family and friends celebrating a loving couple.

When planing a dream wedding one of the most beautiful churches is The neighborhood church in Palos Verdes. It has amazing architecture with a beautiful view of the pacific ocean. Throw in a classic Lincoln Continental, a cake from Torrence bakery and you have the perfect South Bay vintage themed wedding.

Veronica and Eddie not only became wonderful clients but wonderful friends. It was so much fun shooting the wedding. Great view, great friends and amazing food! To top it off Veronica was stunning in her beautiful couture dress!

One of the highlights of the day was when I got to ride the sexy Lincoln car with suicide doors! I bet every guy at the wedding (including Edwin) wished they were me. After the church in PV we headed to a beautiful Mansion where the reception was waiting with its beautiful coral decor.

Time for some googly awwwww's. We loved baby Esaias he was filled with laughs and smiles. Every time he would hear the click of the camera he would giggle and burst out laughing, and my heart skipped a beat every time I would see him smile. I don't know what makes me laugh more, seeing a baby burst out giggling, or seeing Edwin make his funny faces.

When we first meet baby Esaias we right away knew he had a special connection with his grandmother. His grandmother loves him dearly and wanted us to capture his breathtaking spirit. What better place to do his session than at grandmothers house in Redondo Beach.

Baby Nathan | Good Looks Come In All Sizes

One of the greatest joys of being a lifestyle photographer is that people always give us a glimpse into their lives. No fake backgrounds no sterile cold studios. We get to capture who they are and where they are. Its always fun to bring out the natural character in a person; whether it be a wedding, a portrait session, or engagement session. Its extra special when friendships develop with our clients. In this case it was a slight role reversal these are friends that became clients. Friends we get to see at least once a week.

A few months ago our friends Victor and Letty had a beautiful baby boy named Nathan. He is an amazing bundle of joy that we've gotten to see grow week in and week out. Well today we had the chance to capture that infectious smile in their home in Huntington park.

What does a photographic image mean to you?

What does a photographic image mean to you? Is it just a pretty picture on a wall or does it transcend an impact of emotions? Sometimes, it can do both.

One of the things I miss the most is painting an art piece. Call me crazy but the smell of paint drove my senses into a creative frenzy. I miss dipping the brush and swirling it around the paint, mixing the colors, to create a prefect shade that suit my pallet. I could hear the sound of the brush touching the canvas and making a soft brushing sound as I would drag the tip of the brush. One of the things that would make me go nuts (in a good way) was the transformation of a color right before my eyes, it was like magic. As an artist the ability to imitate life around you is infallible. There is no right or wrong way to to interpret art.

When I started in photography, I had a very hard time connecting with my a camera. To me it was just a huge hunk of plastic. To my husband it was his life, his art and his way of expressing himself. I couldn't understand that at the time. I would compare my beautiful and magical brush to a lifeless and boring equipment. But little did I know that I would later fall in love, with this black contraption, that would allow me to paint a whole canvas in a matter of seconds. Let me rephrase that 1/4000 of a second.

At first it was very frustrating because I was looking for amazing scenery and posed shots. I would force art to come my way, I would force inspiration. I couldn't get the same results as my art work. But little did I know that my creative nature never left me, it transitioned art forms with me.

This shot was taken last year when we went to go visit family up in Lancaster. I look back and I can see my paintbrush never left me. It just morphed into a beautiful camera. As an artist I learned to interpret paintings, and see whats not there, bring out true emotions from the piece, and translate paint into words. You can do the same with a photographic image. I come to realize art comes in many different shapes and sizes. I am so thankful that I was able to learn at a late age a new form of art.

Downtown LA Rooftop Engagement session | Veronica & Eddie

We met Veronica and Eddie through our friends the Montiels. Veronica and Eddie love life, their families, and each other. We always love to do something new and take on challenges, so when they approached us with the possibility to shoot on a downtown roof with the Los Angeles skyline as our background we jumped on the opportunity.

We wanted their love for each other to show in a way that they hadn't expressed before, but we also wanted to keep it a surprise so we had each of them write a note and didn't allow them to see what each other wrote until now.

They are so in tune with each other that what they wrote goes well together though they had very little time to think and were not able to talk about it.

Huntley Hotel | Santa Monica Wedding

The Los Angeles area is full of beautiful venues for weddings and there really isn't a bad time of the year to get married. Sure we get scattered showers here and there but, overall we can usually beat the weather.

In November we were contracted to shoot a beautiful orthodox wedding in Santa Monica with a reception to follow at The Huntley Hotel. The weather forecast for the day was for scattered showers, but overall it cooperated. The Ceremony at St. Peter St. Paul orthodox church was amazing, and the reception to follow was at The Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica. The Huntley was one of the most amazing venues we have ever shot in and the food was to die for. And of course like always, Nancy had her own little session with the brides shoes!
